PHNOM PENH, Cambodia (Nov. 18, 2025) — Emerald Resources NL said Monday it has secured full permitting to develop and operate its Memot Gold Project in Cambodia and received an extension to its Okvau Gold Mine agreement, paving the way for expanded underground mining activities.

The Australian-listed company announced that the Memot Mineral Investment Agreement and Industrial Mining Licence were finalized after extensive collaboration with Cambodian ministries and agencies. The approvals allow Emerald to begin development on a 27.46-square-kilometer site, with an initial 15-year licence and options for two additional 10-year terms. The company is also required to submit an Environmental and Social Impact Assessment by April 2026.

Emerald’s Okvau Gold Mine agreement has been extended to cover underground operations, including exemptions from import taxes and duties on mining equipment for three years. The extension reflects the government’s support for the company’s current operations and planned expansion.

“We are pleased to have the full licensing in place for the development and operation of the Memot Gold Project,” said Emerald Managing Director Morgan Hart. “Together with the Okvau extension, the Royal Government of Cambodia has demonstrated strong and ongoing support for our mining activities.”

Minister of Mines and Energy Keo Rottanak wrote that the agreements reflect Cambodia’s commitment to governance, community partnership and environmental responsibility, which he said will strengthen the nation’s economy for decades to come.

Emerald began work on the Okvau project in 2017, completing feasibility studies that demonstrated its potential. In June 2021, the $120 million mine in Mondulkiri Province commenced commercial operations, making Cambodia a gold producer for the first time. The project was commissioned on time and on budget, with initial reserves supporting a mine life of more than seven years. Since then, ongoing drilling has extended reserves, and the mine now includes underground resources estimated at 310,000 ounces of gold.
