Samdech Hun Sen announces production of Cambodian-made military armor
PHNOM PENH, Cambodia (Nov.17,2015) — Senate President Samdech Techo Hun Sen announced plans to produce Cambodian-made armor vests for the military, with potential for export.
Speaking Monday at the 33rd National Assembly of Monastic Officials, Hun Sen said the vests will carry the brand name “DSS,” and confirmed he owns the factory manufacturing them.
“Soon there will be DSS-brand armor vests to equip our armed forces and for export if other countries place orders,” he said.
Samdech Techo Hun Sen acknowledged Cambodia’s past shortcomings in supplying armor and helmets during clashes along the Thai border, attributing the gap to assumptions that war would not occur. He added that the armed forces are now fully equipped with protective gear.
