ASEAN Ministers Convene in Kuala Lumpur to Advance Myanmar Peace Efforts
KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia (Oct.25, 2025) — Cambodia’s Foreign Minister Prak Sokhonn joined his ASEAN counterparts in Kuala Lumpur this week to assess the bloc’s progress in addressing the crisis in Myanmar under the Five-Point Consensus framework.

The consultation, hosted by Malaysian Foreign Minister Mohamad Hasan, brought together regional representatives focused on promoting peace and enhancing humanitarian assistance in Myanmar.
Delegates commended Malaysia’s leadership under Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and praised the ASEAN chair’s special envoy for fostering dialogue and improving aid delivery, particularly in the wake of this year’s devastating earthquake.
Sokhonn reaffirmed Cambodia’s support for a Myanmar-led political resolution and underscored the significance of the ASEAN Troika and Extended Troika mechanisms in sustaining regional momentum and coherence.
On the sidelines,Sokhonn held bilateral talks with Hasan, during which they discussed strengthening cooperation and Malaysia’s role in supporting a peaceful resolution to the Cambodia-Thailand border dispute.
He also congratulated Malaysia on its ASEAN chairmanship and confirmed that the third Joint Commission for Bilateral Cooperation between the two nations will be held in Malaysia in 2026.
