Chinese Agribusiness Giant Plans Animal Feed Plant in Cambodia’s Kampong Thom Province

PHNOM PENH, Cambodia (Oct. 21, 2025) — China’s New Hope Liuhe Co. Ltd plans to invest in an animal feed production facility in Cambodia’s Kampong Thom province, aiming to produce up to 10 million tons annually as part of its regional expansion strategy.

The plan was discussed during a meeting between Chen Hai Hua, the company’s director of international trade, and Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister Vongsey Visoth, who also heads the government’s working group for Kampong Thom. The project is expected to boost local productivity, improve feed quality, and create jobs for residents, contributing to the province’s economic development.

New Hope Liuhe is one of China’s largest agribusiness firms, producing meat, eggs, dairy, and animal feed. It operates around 600 facilities across 34 countries in Asia, Europe, Africa, and the Americas, with an annual feed output of 2.848 million tons. The company employs approximately 100,000 people globally, 94% of whom are local hires trained in technical and production skills.

The Kampong Thom investment marks New Hope Liuhe’s first major step into Cambodia’s feed and livestock sector, with plans for continued capital injection and long-term development.
