Cambodia Reaffirms Commitment to Peace, Development at APA Summit

MANAMA, Bahrain — September 16, 2025 — Cambodia reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to peace, international law, and sustainable development during the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA) Standing Committee Meeting on Economic and Sustainable Development Affairs, held in Manama from September 14 to 16.

Senator Yos Panita, Chairperson of the Senate’s Second Commission, delivered Cambodia’s keynote address, emphasizing that peace remains a core national value underpinning the country’s post-conflict recovery, economic growth, and progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals.

“Cambodia has endured the painful legacy of war, but we have rebuilt in peace,” Panita said. “Today, we stand in solidarity with all nations committed to safeguarding peace, which remains the invisible foundation of all forms of sustainable development.”

Panita expressed gratitude to the international community for its support during Cambodia’s most difficult periods and reaffirmed the Kingdom’s dedication to unity, multilateral cooperation, and peaceful coexistence.

The Cambodian delegation actively participated in discussions on seven draft resolutions, covering energy, environmental protection, climate finance, poverty reduction, and access to sanitation and water.

The APA platform continues to serve as a vital forum for regional dialogue and cooperation, advancing shared goals of peace, prosperity, and sustainable development across Asia.
