Cambodia, GX Foundation to Expand Health Cooperation on Blindness and Dengue Prevention
PHNOM PENH, Cambodia (Sept.16, 2026) — Cambodia’s Ministry of Health and the GX Foundation have pledged to strengthen cooperation on eliminating preventable blindness and controlling dengue fever, following a high-level meeting in Phnom Penh.

Health Minister Chheang Ra hosted GX Foundation Director General Leung Chun-ying, who also serves as Vice Chairman of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, at the ministry headquarters.
Leung was joined by Chinese Ambassador Wang Wenbin and a delegation from the foundation.
Ra expressed gratitude for the foundation’s contributions to Cambodia’s health sector, particularly its support for eye screening and cataract treatment in underserved provinces.
Leung reaffirmed GX Foundation’s commitment to expanding collaboration with the ministry, emphasizing long-term support for joint health initiatives.

The two sides discussed plans to scale up efforts to eliminate cataract-related blindness and improve dengue fever prevention and outbreak management. The initiatives aim to strengthen Cambodia’s healthcare system and advance progress toward universal health coverage.
Ra also thanked the Chinese government and people for their continued support in improving public health, enhancing service quality, and developing human resources.
The partnership aligns with Cambodia’s Pentagon Strategy and the goals of the Seventh Mandate government under Prime Minister Hun Manet.
