Agriculture Ministry Moves to Ease Farmers’ Concerns Over Middle East Conflict
PHNOM PENH, March 16, 2026 (KPT) – Cambodia’s agriculture ministry has announced urgent measures to reassure farmers worried about the impact of the Middle East conflict on fuel and fertiliser supplies.
Spokesperson Khim Finan said on Sunday the ministry had coordinated with the ministries of Mines and Energy and Commerce to ensure sufficient fuel for agricultural production,
while provincial departments were instructed to monitor local conditions and respond quickly to abnormal price increases or shortages.
Officials also met with major fertiliser importers and distributors to assess potential risks. Preliminary findings suggest Cambodia is unlikely to face shortages, particularly of urea, though prices may rise due to global market pressures.
The ministry urged companies to keep fertiliser affordable ahead of the planting season and pledged continued monitoring to prevent disruptions.
