Cambodia Promotes Eco-Tourism and Community Engagement with Fun Run at River Festival 2026
PHNOM PENH, Mar. 18, 2026 (KPT) — Cambodia will stage a 5-kilometer fun run as part of the 10th River Festival in Kratie province to promote eco-tourism and community participation, the Ministry of Tourism said Wednesday.
The event, organized with the Kratie Provincial Administration, is scheduled for March 27 at 6:00 am, starting and finishing at the festival entrance under the theme “Green Rivers, Cultural Heritage, and Rich Natural Resources.”

Officials said the run is designed to encourage healthy activities while raising awareness of Cambodia’s river-based tourism potential and environmental sustainability.
Registration is free until March 24, with the first 1,000 participants receiving official event T-shirts. All runners will be provided with water and refreshments, while those completing the race in the official shirt will receive a commemorative krama from Tourism Minister Huot Hak and Kratie Governor Var Thorn.
The initiative is part of broader efforts to enhance tourism experiences, promote active lifestyles and showcase Kratie as an emerging eco-tourism and cultural destination. The ministry urged both locals and international visitors to join, contributing to the success of the River Festival and the promotion of Cambodia’s natural and cultural heritage.
