Cambodia shows diplomats displaced families near Thai border

PHNOM PENH, March 28, 2026 (KPT)– Cambodia’s foreign minister has taken members of the diplomatic corps to a disputed frontier in Pursat province, where dozens of families remain uprooted after clashes with Thai forces.
On March 27, Deputy Prime Minister Prak Sokhonn escorted representatives of foreign embassies and international organisations to Thmor Da commune in Veal Veng district, along the Cambodia-Thailand border.
The delegation met 76 families sheltering in a local high school since fighting erupted in December. Cambodian officials said their homes lie in territory now under Thai control.
The group also visited the Chey Chumneah border checkpoint, where officials accused Thai troops of blocking part of National Road 55 with barbed wire and shipping containers. Three more containers were reportedly added on March 26.
Sokhonn stressed Cambodia’s commitment to resolving the dispute peacefully, citing international law and bilateral accords. “Borders should not be changed by force,” he said.
