PHNOM PENH, April 1, 2026 (KPT) — The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) has reaffirmed its support for Cambodia’s push to expand infrastructure and accelerate its clean energy transition, officials said Wednesday, as both sides pledged deeper cooperation aligned with the country’s long term growth strategy.

Prime Minister Hun Manet met with AIIB President Zou Jiayi to discuss expanding collaboration across priority sectors. Jiayi praised Cambodia’s rapid economic progress and expressed confidence in its development vision, noting that AIIB’s priorities—climate action, clean energy, regional connectivity, technology driven infrastructure and private sector growth—closely align with Cambodia’s national agenda.

“Cambodia is an important strategic partner for AIIB,” Jiayi said, reaffirming the bank’s commitment to supporting projects that drive sustainable and inclusive growth.

Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet welcomed AIIB’s continued engagement, highlighting the government’s ambition to accelerate its clean energy transition, including a target to raise renewable energy’s share to 70 percent by 2030. He also pointed to policies promoting electric vehicle adoption as part of Cambodia’s path toward carbon neutrality.

Beyond energy, the Prime Minister stressed ongoing reforms in logistics and infrastructure aimed at enhancing competitiveness regionally and globally. Improved transport networks and energy systems are seen as critical to sustaining growth and attracting investment.

Both sides agreed to strengthen coordination between AIIB and Cambodian ministries, particularly the Ministry of Economy and Finance, to ensure effective implementation of projects and maximize development outcomes.
