PHNOM PENH, April 6, 2026 (KPT) – Cambodia’s rice exports generated more than $207 million in the first quarter of 2026, reflecting strong global demand and a sharp rise in shipments, the Cambodia Rice Federation said Monday.

The country exported over 361,000 tonnes of rice between January and March, up from about 211,000 tonnes in the same period last year.

Officials said growth was driven by expanding demand in Europe, ASEAN countries and China, with exports to Africa and the Middle East also contributing. Fragrant rice continued to dominate, accounting for more than 60 percent of total shipments and reinforcing Cambodia’s reputation for premium rice.

In addition, Cambodia exported around 2 million tonnes of paddy rice worth some $433 million, further strengthening the agricultural sector’s role in the economy.

The federation said the strong performance highlights the resilience and competitiveness of Cambodia’s rice industry, supported by diversified markets and rising demand for high-quality rice.
