PHNOM PENH, April 13, 2026 (KPT) – Prime Minister Hun Manet has extended Khmer New Year greetings to citizens travelling nationwide, as authorities roll out free public transport during the holiday.

Hun Manet wished safe journeys and joyful reunions to Cambodians returning to their hometowns, expressing hopes for health, longevity and success in the year ahead.

He also paid tribute to armed forces personnel on duty and civilians displaced by conflict, offering wishes of safety and stability.

Officials said 600 buses have been deployed to ease travel costs and congestion. The Phnom Penh Capital Administration confirmed the service will run from April 12 to 17, connecting the capital with provincial destinations during one of the country’s busiest annual migrations.

Of the fleet, 100 buses will operate within Phnom Penh, including routes to Techo International Airport, while 500 will serve provincial routes with return services scheduled after the holiday.

Free drinking water will be provided on board. Hun Manet said the initiative reflects the government’s commitment to supporting workers and low-income groups, while promoting domestic travel during the festive period.
