PHNOM PENH, April 28, 2026 (KPT) — Cambodia is reinforcing its commitment to worker protection by expanding occupational safety measures and broadening social security coverage, as part of efforts to promote decent work and improve labour conditions nationwide.

Prime Minister Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet said the government continues to prioritize workplace safety and health through strengthened inspection systems and enhanced monitoring across enterprises and factories.

Membership in the National Social Security Fund reached about 3.6 million in the first quarter of 2026, including around 920,000 voluntary contributors, reflecting wider access to protection. Targeted support programs have also been maintained, with cash assistance benefiting more than 760,000 pregnant women and 830,000 children under two.

Officials highlighted progress in labour rights and industrial relations, noting nearly 7,000 labour organizations registered and a dispute resolution rate of 97.92 percent, signaling increased stability in employer‑worker relations.

Cambodia is working closely with the International Labour Organization to advance its decent work agenda, including initiatives on youth employment, factory standards and sustainable labour practices.

Authorities said the combined efforts aim to strengthen workforce resilience, enhance productivity and support inclusive economic growth amid global and domestic challenges.
