VILNIUS, May 11, 2026 (KPT) — Cambodia and Lithuania reaffirmed their commitment to deepen cooperation across political and economic sectors during the second round of bilateral consultations in Vilnius, officials said Monday.

The talks, co‑chaired by Cambodian Secretary of State Meas Kim Heng and Lithuanian counterpart Vidmantas Verbickas on May 8, reviewed progress in relations following the recent official visit to Phnom Penh by Lithuanian Foreign Minister Kęstutis Budrys, which both sides described as a milestone in strengthening ties.

Delegations pledged to expand collaboration in trade, investment, agriculture, digitalisation, green energy and people‑to‑people exchanges.

They also agreed to enhance cooperation within ASEAN‑EU and United Nations frameworks, reaffirming support for multilateralism and international law.

Regional and international issues were discussed, including the Cambodia‑Thailand border situation, with both sides stressing the importance of peaceful and diplomatic resolution.

During their stay in Vilnius, the Cambodian delegation visited Axioma Metering and received briefings on cybersecurity, digital governance and demining technology, underscoring Lithuania’s interest in sharing expertise in innovation and security.

Cambodia and Lithuania have maintained diplomatic relations for more than three decades, gradually expanding cooperation through political dialogue, trade and multilateral engagement.

In recent years, Cambodia has sought stronger ties with European partners through investment and technology partnerships, while Lithuania has stepped up engagement with Southeast Asia under the broader EU‑ASEAN framework.

The latest consultations marked another step forward in advancing bilateral relations and building momentum for future cooperation.
