PHNOM PENH, May 27, 2026 (KPT) – Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet on Wednesday extended Raya Haji greetings to Muslims at home and abroad, praising their contributions to peace, religious harmony and national unity.

In a message marking Raya Haji, also known as Eid al‑Adha, Hun Manet and his wife conveyed best wishes to Muslims in Cambodia and worldwide celebrating the festival. He congratulated 1,210 Cambodian Muslims who traveled to Saudi Arabia this year to perform the Hajj pilgrimage, one of Islam’s five pillars.

Samdech Thipadei  highlighted the Muslim community’s role in fostering peaceful coexistence and strengthening harmony among religions and ethnic groups under the government’s policy of national unity and social cohesion. He said their active participation in society reflected Cambodia’s tradition of tolerance and multicultural coexistence.

The premier commended the spirit of generosity during Raya Haji, noting the Qurban ritual in which Muslims sacrifice livestock and distribute meat to underprivileged families. The practice, he said, embodies compassion, sharing and solidarity, ensuring vulnerable households can also join in the celebrations.

He emphasized that such acts of kindness reinforce Cambodia’s broader commitment to social cohesion and inclusive development. He added that the Muslim community’s contributions extend beyond religious observance, playing an important role in the country’s economic and social progress.

Cambodia is widely recognized for its religious tolerance, with Muslim communities actively engaged in national life. Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet said their example of harmony and cooperation strengthens the country’s unity and helps build a peaceful and prosperous future.
