SIEM REAP, June 18, 2026 (KPT) — Authorities will temporarily restrict access around Angkor Thom’s Terrace of Elephants on June 19 to facilitate security and logistics for the closing ceremony of the 39th World Conference of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS), officials said Wednesday.

In a notice, the APSARA National Authority said entry and exit routes to the Terrace of Elephants will be closed from 12:00 p.m. Friday to ensure safety and smooth traffic flow for senior national and international delegates attending the event.

Tourists will still be able to visit Angkor Thom through designated routes identified on an official traffic management map. APSARA stressed that the measures are designed to support the successful organization of the ceremony while minimizing disruption to tourism activities at the Angkor Archaeological Park.

The authority called on ministries, institutions, local authorities, travel agencies, tour guide associations and the public to cooperate with officials and follow the temporary arrangements.

Cambodia is hosting the 39th WAGGGS World Conference, which has brought together Girl Guide and Girl Scout leaders, delegates and youth representatives from around the world. The closing ceremony will be held at the historic Terrace of Elephants, one of Angkor Thom’s most iconic landmarks, and is expected to be attended by senior dignitaries.
