SEOUL, June 22, 2026 (KPT) – Cambodia’s ambassador to South Korea has voiced strong support for a South Korean-backed food processing project in Cambodia, calling it a timely initiative as the country works to modernise its agricultural and industrial sectors.

Ambassador Khuon Phon Rattanak made the remarks during a meeting at the Cambodian Embassy in Seoul with a delegation led by Hong Rada, Under Secretary of State at Cambodia’s Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation, and Kim Young Chan, Director of the Korea Food Research Institute.

Rattanak briefed the delegation on the operations of Cambodia’s Food Processing Center and shared outcomes from his team’s second visit to South Korea.

He said tours of research institutes, factories and food companies had provided valuable insights that could be applied to Cambodia’s food processing industry.

The delegation identified several practices that could help improve production processes and address challenges at the country’s Food Processing Institute.

Rattanak expressed gratitude to Cambodia’s Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation and the Cambodian Embassy in Seoul for their cooperation.

He also urged continued support in promoting the achievements of South Korea’s Official Development Assistance (ODA) projects in Cambodia, particularly those related to food processing.

The ambassador welcomed South Korea’s assistance and reaffirmed his commitment to highlighting the results of Korean-funded development projects among stakeholders.

He stressed the importance of preparing Cambodia for a transition from traditional development programmes to advanced technology-driven initiatives, which he said would play a crucial role in the country’s future economic growth.
