World Bank, Cambodia Push Partnerships to Strengthen Agriculture
PHNOM PENH, July 13, 2026 (KPT) – Cambodia’s agriculture minister Dith Tina met World Bank Vice President for Planet Guangzhe Chen to discuss development priorities and challenges in the sector, highlighting projects that are reshaping rural livelihoods and boosting productivity.

According to World Bank, the Cambodia Agricultural Sector Diversification Project has already reached more than 18,800 farmers across 18 provinces. The initiative has lifted farm sales by 42 percent and supported 100 business plans for 75 agricultural cooperatives and 40 small and medium‑sized agribusinesses. Women account for more than half of all beneficiaries, underscoring the project’s role in promoting inclusive growth.
The Land Allocation for Social and Economic Development Project III has provided support to about 14,000 landless and land‑poor rural households, including indigenous groups in 66 communities across 12 provinces. By securing land tenure, the program has helped families increase incomes, access better services, and build more resilient livelihoods.

Meanwhile, the Cambodia Inclusive Livestock Value Chains Project is set to reach 30,000 smallholder farmers. The scheme aims to strengthen livestock‑based livelihoods through improved animal health and production services, while building more resilient, market‑integrated value chains.
Chen praised Cambodia’s progress in diversifying agriculture and said the World Bank remains committed to supporting projects that enhance food security, create jobs and improve rural incomes. Tina reaffirmed the government’s determination to modernise the sector, stressing that partnerships with international institutions are vital to sustaining growth and resilience.

The meeting underscored Cambodia’s broader push to integrate farmers, cooperatives and agribusinesses into value chains, while ensuring that vulnerable households benefit from land security and market access.
