NEW YORK, July 17, 2026 (KPT) – Cambodia has reaffirmed its commitment to advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) during the High‑Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development and the UN Economic and Social Council’s High‑Level Segment in New York, officials said Friday.

A delegation from the Ministry of Planning and the Council for the Development of Cambodia attended the meetings at UN Headquarters from July 7 to 15, coordinated by Cambodia’s Permanent Mission to the UN.

Speaking in the ECOSOC General Debate, Planning Secretary of State Pan Sobandith said Cambodia remained committed to implementing the SDGs through the government’s Pentagonal Strategy – Phase I and the National Strategic Development Plan.

He highlighted science, technology and innovation as key drivers of sustainable development and called for greater education on the SDGs among children and youth.

He also urged stronger regional and international cooperation to address financing gaps.

At a session on regional perspectives, Chi Polydeth, Chief of Cabinet to the Senior Minister at the Council for the Development of Cambodia, said public‑private partnerships and innovative financing could help narrow funding shortfalls.

She reaffirmed Cambodia’s support for multilateral cooperation, including through ASEAN, as well as South‑South and triangular cooperation to share knowledge and best practices.
