EU-ABC, EuroCham seek to boost investment in Cambodia’s tourism sector

PHNOM PENH, Mar. 6, 2026 (KPT) – The EU-ASEAN Business Council and the European Chamber of Commerce in Cambodia are seeking to expand investment in Cambodia’s tourism industry, officials said Friday.

Delegations from EU-ABC and EuroCham Cambodia, led by Noel Clehane, met with Tourism Minister Huot Hak to reaffirm their commitment to working with the government to develop the sector through new investment and business expansion.

The European business groups cited Cambodia’s stable political environment, peace and security, tourism potential, and youthful workforce as key attractions. Priority areas include sustainable tourism, ecotourism, nightlife tourism focused on food and beverage services in major cities, authentic cultural souvenirs, and digital transformation in tourism services.

Minister Hak welcomed the support, noting the strong diplomatic ties between Cambodia and the European Union over the past three decades. He pledged to strengthen public–private partnerships to attract more international visitors and highlighted efforts to promote direct flights from European cities to Phnom Penh and Siem Reap, particularly following the opening of Techo International Airport in October 2025.

Both sides agreed to deepen cooperation to make Cambodia’s tourism sector more sustainable, resilient, and competitive regionally and globally. The meeting also included representatives from the Asia Pacific International Spirits and Wines Alliance, whose members include Pernod Ricard, DHL Express, Heineken, and JT International.
