PHNOM PENH, Feb 16, 2026 (KPT) – Bilateral trade between Cambodia and Singapore surged 224 percent year-on-year in January to US$174 million, underscoring rising demand and sustained market confidence, officials said Monday.

The General Department of Customs and Excise reported Cambodian exports to Singapore at US$7.7 million, up 19.8 percent, while imports from the city-state soared 252 percent to US$166 million compared with the same month last year.

Commerce Ministry spokesman Pen Sovicheat said the sharp growth highlights Cambodia’s ability to retain key global markets and strengthen its role in regional supply chains. “Continued buyer confidence reflects the competitiveness of Cambodian products,” he noted.

Hong Vannak, an economic analyst at the Royal Academy of Cambodia, said Singapore remains a strategic market given its high consumer standards and advanced economy. He added that Cambodian goods meeting Singapore’s demand signal improved quality and competitiveness internationally.

In 2025, bilateral trade reached US$2.34 billion, up 89 percent from the previous year. Cambodian exports more than doubled to US$920 million, while imports from Singapore rose 50.5 percent to US$1.42 billion, reflecting deepening economic ties between the two Southeast Asian nations.
