Cambodia showcases investment potential at Mekong–Lancang forum
KUNMING, China, June 17, 2026 (KPT) — Cambodia promoted its investment opportunities and business‑friendly environment at the Mekong–Lancang Cross‑Border Economic Cooperation Forum in Kunming, China, as part of efforts to attract regional capital and strengthen economic ties, officials said Wednesday.
Penn Sovicheat, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Commerce, led the Cambodian delegation, speaking at the forum and visiting the 10th China–South Asia Expo on June 15–16.

During the forum, Sovicheat highlighted Cambodia’s economic potential, competitive investment climate and strategic advantages as an emerging trade and investment destination. He underscored the government’s open policies aimed at promoting trade, attracting foreign direct investment and enhancing supply‑chain connectivity across the region.
Officials said the forum provided a platform to promote investment and facilitate partnerships among enterprises from China, ASEAN and South Asia. Discussions focused on investment facilitation, transport and logistics connectivity, and regional market integration.
The Ministry of Commerce said Cambodia’s participation reflects its commitment to deepening regional cooperation, attracting quality investment and expanding market access for Cambodian enterprises.
It added that showcasing opportunities at regional forums supports sustainable and inclusive growth, while reinforcing Cambodia’s role as a constructive partner in Mekong–Lancang cooperation.
