Cambodia’s Electricity Demand Hits Record 22 Billion kWh as Clean Energy Share Tops 63%
PHNOM PENH, Feb 12, 2026 (KPT) – Cambodia’s electricity demand reached a record 22.36 billion kilowatt-hours (kWh) in 2025, reflecting steady growth in national power consumption, the Electricity Authority of Cambodia said Thursday.
Total installed capacity rose from 4,649 megawatts (MW) in 2023 to 5,183 MW in 2024, and further to 5,932 MW in 2025. Consumption increased from 16.8 billion kWh in 2023 to 19.97 billion kWh in 2024, before hitting 22.36 billion kWh last year.

Minister of Mines and Energy Keo Rottanak said the government has focused on boosting supply capacity while expanding clean energy usage. The share of clean energy in Cambodia’s power mix rose from 57 percent in 2023 to more than 63 percent in 2025.
As of last year, 14,570 villages – equivalent to 99.1 percent – were connected to the national grid, while about 96 percent of households nationwide had access to electricity, according to official figures.
