PHNOM PENH, Feb 6, 2026 (KPT) – Senior Minister Vongsey Vissoth on Wednesday urged the International Finance Corporation (IFC) to expand green financing, logistics partnerships and private sector support as Cambodia moves into a new phase of growth driven by industry and sustainability.

The appeal came during a meeting in Phnom Penh with IFC Regional Director Keiko Miwa and Country Manager Thomas Jacobs for Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia.

Vissoth outlined the government’s priorities under its seventh mandate, stressing the private sector as a key driver of socio-economic development.

He called for stronger logistics systems, improved energy competitiveness, a better business environment and faster skills development to support industrial expansion.

Miwa praised Cambodia’s progress over recent decades and reaffirmed IFC’s partnership since the late 1990s. She highlighted IFC’s investments in finance, manufacturing, agriculture, renewable energy and trade finance, along with advisory support in public-private partnerships, sustainable finance, capital markets and competitiveness.

Discussions built on earlier policy dialogue in which Cambodia encouraged IFC to diversify support into logistics, energy, industry and agriculture. Vissoth pressed for further investment in green projects, special economic zones, agro-industry value chains, logistics infrastructure and workforce skills aligned with private sector demand.

He also emphasized financial literacy, consumer protection and ethical lending practices – particularly in microfinance – to ensure inclusive and sustainable development.

The meeting ended with appreciation for IFC’s continued investment and policy advisory support in line with Cambodia’s long-term development goals.
