U.S. Investor Eyes Cambodia as ASEAN Duck Hub
PHNOM PENH, Feb 4, 2026 (KPT) — A U.S. agribusiness investor is studying Cambodia as a potential ASEAN hub for White Pekin duck production, in a plan that could establish a nationwide farming network, integrated processing and export oriented agro industry.
Government Delegate and Agricultural and Rural Development Bank CEO Kao Thach said U.S. based Maple Leaf Farms will spend three months conducting a feasibility study before deciding on a formal launch of a duck meat value chain in Cambodia.

The company’s model goes beyond a single farm, aiming to raise ducks locally and expand participation across provinces, enabling smallholder farmers to join a coordinated production system. Standards, inputs and technical support would be centrally managed to ensure consistent output and new income streams at the community level.
Maple Leaf Farms is also considering investment in processing facilities, with by products such as feathers and manure converted into pillows and organic fertilizer. Ducks would reach harvest weight in about 35 days under the firm’s feed and vaccine system.
Thach said Cambodia is being evaluated as a strategic base for ASEAN markets, with local partners already lined up. He added the initiative could boost regional demand while supporting economic growth through integrated agriculture and industry.
