PHNOM PENH, Jan 28, 2026 (KPT) — The Cambodia Chamber of Commerce (CCC) has directed its overseas offices to step up efforts in promoting exports and attracting foreign investment this year.

At the chamber’s Annual General Assembly, President Kith Meng described the eight overseas offices in Canada, Japan, Australia, the United States and New Zealand as “frontline matchmakers” for Cambodia’s economy.

“You are our strategic gateways,” he told overseas presidents. “We want to see B2B matchmaking sessions that result in concrete MOUs between foreign tech firms and our local Special Economic Zone operators.”

Meng urged the offices to not only promote trade but also reshape perceptions abroad, positioning Cambodia as a pro-business gateway to ASEAN markets.

The directive reflects a broader shift in the CCC’s role from representation to execution, aligning private sector action with government reforms under the Government–Private Sector Forum (G-PSF). By the end of 2025, 93 percent of reform measures from the 19th G-PSF had been completed, easing taxation, customs and logistics.

Meng said the chamber’s global network must now convert those domestic reforms into tangible export and investment outcomes.

To support momentum, the CCC announced two major events for 2026: the Cambodia ASEAN Business Summit in March in Phnom Penh and the Francophonie Entrepreneur Forum in November in Siem Reap, expected to draw delegations from nearly 90 countries.

He reaffirmed the CCC’s partnership with the Ministry of Commerce and pledged close cooperation on trade facilitation and new international agreements.

Cambodia is targeting 5 percent GDP growth in 2026, with overseas business diplomacy and deal-making seen as key drivers.
