PHNOM PENH, Jan 20, 2026 (KPT) – Cambodia’s aviation sector posted a sharp recovery in 2025, with passenger traffic across its three international airports climbing close to 7 million, official data showed Tuesday.

The State Secretariat of Civil Aviation said Phnom Penh/Techo International Airport, Siem Reap Angkor International Airport and Sihanoukville International Airport handled 64,821 two-way flights last year, up 11 percent from 2024.

Passenger numbers rose 12 percent to 6,988,259, while air cargo volumes jumped 21 percent to 93,889 tons, underscoring rising demand for both travel and freight.

As of mid-January, the three airports were operating 1,272 two-way flights per week, including 848 at Techo International, 366 at Siem Reap Angkor and 54 at Sihanoukville.

Cambodia is now served by 36 airlines — four domestic and 32 international — linking the country to 17 nations and 46 cities, including destinations in ASEAN, China, South Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan, India, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates and Japan.

Between 2023 and 2025, the kingdom recorded 174,324 flights, carried 18.34 million passengers and handled 227,440 tons of cargo. Phnom Penh/Techo International Airport led performance in 2025 with 46,913 flights, 5.3 million passengers and 92,680 tons of cargo.

Mao Havannall, Minister in charge of the State Secretariat of Civil Aviation and Chairman of Air Cambodia, hailed the results and credited stakeholders and the airline’s leadership.

He said the rebound coincides with Air Cambodia’s fleet expansion, noting the carrier added three ATR72-600 aircraft last year and signed deals to purchase 20 Boeing 737 MAX 8 jets and 20 COMAC C909 aircraft, moves expected to boost capacity and regional connectivity.
