Cambodia’s international trade tops $52.5 billion in 10 months, up 16.5%

PHNOM PENH, Cambodia (Nov.10, 2025) — Cambodia’s international trade volume reached $52.57 billion in the first 10 months of 2025, a 16.5% increase compared to $45 billion during the same period last year, according to data released by the General Department of Customs and Excise on Nov. 10.

From January through October, exports totaled $24.94 billion, up 15.2%, while imports rose 17.7% to $27.63 billion. The trade deficit stood at approximately $2.68 billion.

Major trading partners included China, the United States, Vietnam, Thailand, and Japan. Key exports were garments, footwear, machinery and electrical equipment, leather goods, animal hair products, agricultural commodities, rubber and rubber-based products, and furniture.

Dr. Chey Tech, a socio-economic researcher, said Cambodia’s industrial exports—particularly garments, bicycles, tires, and electronic components—have expanded. He attributed the growth to favorable tariff schemes, such as zero duties on textiles and electronics exported to the United Kingdom.

Exports to the U.S. also surged, benefiting from a 19% tariff advantage over ASEAN competitors, placing Cambodia on par with Indonesia in the textile sector.

Deputy Prime Minister Aun Pornmoniroth said in a public forum recently Cambodia’s rapid post-pandemic recovery stems from structural reforms, despite global uncertainties, geopolitical tensions, and rising protectionism. The government projects 5.2% GDP growth in 2025 and 5% in 2026, with per capita income expected to reach $3,020.
