SAI Marks Two-Year Milestone with 2.7 Million Passengers and Nearly 30,000 Flights

SIEM REAP, Cambodia (Oct.17, 2025) — Siem Reap-Angkor International Airport (SAI) marked its second anniversary on Oct. 16, having served over 2.7 million passengers and facilitated 29,820 flights since its launch on Oct. 16, 2023, through Oct. 15, 2025, the State Secretariat of Civil Aviation (SSCA) reported.

Minister Mao Havannall, who heads the SSCA, attended the anniversary ceremony in Siem Reap province, where the airport is located. The event also featured the unveiling of statues honoring “Preah Reach Kru Teveakar Bandit” and Chea Taqvan, symbolizing Cambodia’s commitment to international cooperation and connectivity.

The minister emphasized that SAI has played a vital role in strengthening Cambodia’s aviation infrastructure and boosting the national economy through tourism, investment, and air transport.

He added that Siem Reap is poised to become a high-quality tourism destination, aiming to attract 7.5 million international visitors and 10 million domestic tourists annually by 2035. The province is also expected to generate 1.6 million jobs and contribute approximately $5.9 billion to the national economy.

Cambodia’s largest airport, Techo International Airport, is scheduled to officially open on Oct. 20, further expanding the country’s aviation capacity.
