PHNOM PENH, Cambodia (Oct. 15, 2025) — Cambodia generated more than $390 million from exporting 220,240 tons of natural rubber during the first nine months of 2025, as domestic demand for rubber surged, according to the General Directorate of Rubber under the Ministry of Agriculture.

The average export price reached $1,771 per ton, up 11.7 percent compared to the same period in 2024. Deputy Director General Khun Kakada said the rubber supply chain—from plantations to family-run operations—remained stable and unaffected by natural disasters.

Total revenue from rubber sales, including domestic consumption, approached $550 million, marking a 38.34 percent increase year-on-year. Domestic use of rubber rose by 102 percent, driven in part by the growing presence of tire manufacturing plants.

Men Sopheak, president of the Cambodia Rubber Development Association, said local factories are absorbing more natural rubber, reducing reliance on exports and cutting transport costs. “Before, we exported abroad. Now, tire factories source rubber locally as a key component, which benefits our producers,” he said.

Cambodia exported over $671 million worth of rubber in 2024, up 36.38 percent from 2023. The country has more than 420,000 hectares of rubber plantations, including over 330,000 hectares tapped and 90,000 under maintenance.
