Cambodia-Vietnam Trade Tops $6 Billion in First Nine Months of 2025

PHNOM PENH, Cambodia (Oct.13, 2025) — Bilateral trade between Cambodia and Vietnam reached more than $6.05 billion during the first nine months of 2025, marking a 4.1% increase compared to the same period in 2024, according to data from the General Department of Customs and Excise.

From January to September, Cambodia exported goods worth $2.93 billion to Vietnam, up 7.8% year-on-year, while imports from Vietnam totaled $3.11 billion, a 0.8% increase.

Lor Vichet, vice president of the Cambodia-China Commerce Association, attributed the growth to shifting economic dynamics driven by geopolitical tensions between the United States and China. “Vietnam’s economic expansion has increased demand for our agricultural products, making them more competitive. Sometimes, Vietnam prefers to import from us rather than produce domestically,” he said.

Secretary of State for the Ministry of Commerce Samheng Bora said Cambodia-Vietnam trade continues to deepen in both volume and value. He noted that under the ASEAN Trade in Goods Agreement, both countries can export certain products beyond reciprocal exchanges, supported by a bilateral trade promotion mechanism signed every two years.

Key Cambodian exports included paddy rice, rubber, cashew nuts, cassava, corn, bananas, mangoes and tobacco. Vietnam’s exports to Cambodia consisted mainly of construction materials, machinery, fuel, electronic and electrical equipment, agricultural fertilizers, spices, vegetables and fruits.

In 2024, Cambodia-Vietnam trade totaled $7.78 billion, up 18.2% from 2023. Cambodian exports reached approximately $3.61 billion, a 21.6% increase, while imports from Vietnam stood at $4.16 billion, up 15.4%.
