PHNOM PENH, Cambodia (Oct.10,2025) — Cambodia exported more than 625,000 tonnes of cashew nut during the first nine months of 2025, marking a 9.53 percent increase compared to the same period last year, according to a report from the General Department of Agriculture under the Ministry of Agriculture.

Oun Silot, president of the Cambodian Cashew Nut Association, told local media the growth is a promising sign for farmers and could be encourage greater participation in longan cultivation. He added that unofficial figures suggest the actual increase may be even higher than reported.

In 2024, Cambodia harvested approximately 850,000 tonnes of longan, with 815,000 tonnes exported as raw fruit — a 21 percent rise over 2023. The exports generated $1.15 billion in revenue, up 26.15 percent year-on-year.

Vietnam remained the largest importer, receiving 795,000 tonnes of Cambodian longan in 2024.

The surge in exports reflects growing demand and improved market access, particularly in neighboring countries. Industry leaders say the trend is likely to continue, provided farmers maintain quality and adapt to changing market conditions.

Cambodia’s agriculture sector has increasingly looked to cashew nuts as a key export crop, supported by expanded cultivation and favorable trade conditions.
