Cambodia seeks Brazilian support to boost agro-processing investment
PHNOM PENH, March 20, 2026 (KPT) — Brazil has pledged to support and coordinate Cambodia’s investment mission as Phnom Penh looks to attract more investors in high-value sectors such as agro-industry and food processing, officials said Thursday.
Sun Chanthol, first vice-chairman of the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC), met with Ambassador Susan Kleebank, secretary for Asia and the Pacific at Brazil’s foreign ministry, as both sides agreed to strengthen cooperation mechanisms to achieve tangible results. Vivian Loss Sanmartin, Brazil’s ambassador to Cambodia, also attended the meeting.

The talks followed the conclusion of the second Cambodia-Brazil bilateral consultations on March 18, co-chaired by Kleebank. Chanthol briefed the delegation on Cambodia’s favourable investment climate and outlined plans for an investment roadshow to Brazil and other destinations in 2026.
He highlighted Cambodia’s signing of the Agreement of Reciprocal Trade with the United States, saying it provides strategic certainty and confidence for international investors, particularly from Brazil.
Kleebank expressed strong support for Cambodia’s investment mission and identified major Brazilian enterprises with potential for long-term partnerships. Both sides voiced hope that trade and economic cooperation will continue to grow, ensuring inclusivity and mutual benefits.
