CDC Praises Latter-day Saints’ US$48 Million Humanitarian Contribution to Cambodia

PHNOM PENH, May 20, 2026 (KPT)– Deputy Prime Minister Sun Chanthol, First Vice Chairman of the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC) has praised The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for its long-standing humanitarian contributions to the kingdom, which officials said have reached about US$48 million through hundreds of development projects.

Deputy Prime Minister Sun Chanthol, First Vice Chairman of the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC), met Tuesday with a delegation led by Kelly R. Johnson, Asia Area President of the Church, to discuss ongoing cooperation and social development initiatives.

Johnson said the organisation has carried out 671 humanitarian projects in Cambodia, focusing on healthcare, education, training and human capital development. He stressed the Church’s commitment to working alongside the government to improve living standards.

Chanthol welcomed the delegation and expressed appreciation for its continued support since the start of its humanitarian mission in Cambodia. He highlighted the construction of Techo Sen Koh Thom Hospital as a successful example of international cooperation, noting the facility is now providing quality healthcare services to residents in Koh Thom district and surrounding communities.

The meeting was also attended by representatives from Calmette Hospital and Techo Sen Koh Thom Hospital. Chanthol briefed the delegation on Cambodia’s recent socio-economic achievements and the government’s strategies to maintain competitiveness amid shifting regional and global conditions.

He reaffirmed the CDC’s commitment to facilitating the Church’s humanitarian activities and expressed hope they would continue expanding efforts for the long-term benefit of Cambodian communities.
