PHNOM PENH, Mar. 26, 2026 (KPT) — Cambodia is intensifying efforts to revive Preah Sihanouk province, with authorities reviewing 18 new investment projects worth more than $140 million, officials said Wednesday.

The projects, spanning industry, real estate and manufacturing, are expected to create around 1,000 jobs, according to the government’s investment promotion task force, which is spearheading measures to restore investor confidence in the coastal hub.

Since 2024, the government has approved 467 projects valued at over $8.18 billion, including initiatives to restart stalled construction and attract fresh capital. Officials said the progress highlights the impact of targeted policy measures under the Special Investment Promotion Program, now extended through 2027.

Authorities are also rolling out new steps to boost domestic investment, strengthen local production and upgrade workforce skills, part of a broader strategy to ensure sustainable growth.

Efforts continue to resolve remaining stalled projects while drawing new investment, particularly in industry and tourism. Officials say policy support, infrastructure upgrades and investor facilitation are helping Sihanoukville reposition itself as a key economic hub, driving a gradual but steady recovery.
