TAFTAC Commits to Strengthen Garment Sector Competitiveness and Jobs
PHNOM PENH, April 8, 2026 (KPT) – The Textile, Apparel, Footwear and Travel Goods Association in Cambodia (TAFTAC) has pledged to deepen cooperation with the government to boost competitiveness, sustain export markets and safeguard jobs in the garment sector, officials said Tuesday.
Labor Minister Heng Sour met with TAFTAC President Enjoy Ho to discuss joint efforts to further develop Cambodia’s garment, footwear and travel goods industries, which employ about 1.2 million workers and indirectly support some 3 million people.

Sour hailed TAFTAC’s nearly three decades of growth and its role in stabilising the industry, noting its contributions during challenges over EU trade preferences and its support for improved labor conditions and tripartite dialogue.
He said the association’s efforts had been vital in building investor confidence and protecting workers, including a recent $2.50 temporary travel allowance amid rising fuel costs.
Ho thanked the Ministry for its continued backing and reaffirmed TAFTAC’s commitment to strengthening cooperation. He praised Cambodia’s balanced policies and pledged to further improve labor standards, enhance sector resilience and contribute to sustainable economic development.
The partnership underscores the importance of unity between government, employers and workers in maintaining Cambodia’s position as a key garment exporter.
