PHNOM PENH, June 25, 2026 (KPT) — Cambodia and Israel have agreed to accelerate the implementation of their bilateral labor cooperation agreement, paving the way for safe, orderly and transparent recruitment of Cambodian workers for temporary employment in Israel, officials said Wednesday.

Labour Minister Heng Sour and Israel’s ambassador to Cambodia, Alona Fisher‑Kamm, reaffirmed the commitment during talks following celebrations of Israel’s National Independence Day.

The two sides reviewed progress and discussed preparations for rolling out the agreement, signed in December 2025, which establishes a legal framework for Cambodian workers to access employment opportunities in Israel while ensuring their rights and welfare.

Sour welcomed the strengthening of ties, describing the labor accord as a new chapter in relations that creates an official mechanism for safe mobility. He expressed appreciation for Israel’s support and said Cambodia was ready to work closely to ensure smooth implementation. He also voiced interest in expanding cooperation into other sectors facing high demand in Israel.

Fisher‑Kamm praised the efforts of both countries’ technical teams and highlighted the strong performance of Cambodian youth in Israel’s agricultural internship program, commending their diligence and discipline. She expressed confidence Cambodian workers would continue to contribute positively to Israel’s workforce.

Both sides agreed to maintain close coordination to expedite implementation while deepening cooperation in labor and human resource development. Cambodia also expressed interest in learning from Israel’s expertise in smart agriculture, water management, green technology and STEM education to boost long‑term productivity.
