Cambodia Marks 140th International Labour Day with Focus on Resilience and Decent Work
PHNOM PENH, April 27, 2026 (KPT) — Cambodia will commemorate the 140th anniversary of International Labour Day under the theme “Building Resilience Together for Decent Work,” highlighting national efforts to strengthen labour rights, productivity and sustainable employment, officials said Monday.
The government has issued a directive calling on ministries, local authorities, employers and worker organizations to organize nationwide celebrations and awareness campaigns leading up to May 1. Activities will include national and sub national events, public messaging and workplace initiatives aimed at promoting harmonious industrial relations and improving working conditions.

Officials said the commemoration will emphasize priorities such as social protection, occupational safety and health, skills development and productivity growth. The initiative also seeks to reinforce cooperation between workers and employers while showcasing progress in labour rights and freedoms.
Beyond celebration, the government views the occasion as an opportunity to strengthen Cambodia’s investment climate by demonstrating stability, workforce resilience and a commitment to decent work standards.
The nationwide observance is expected to foster unity, solidarity and shared responsibility among stakeholders, while supporting broader goals of inclusive economic growth and long term competitiveness.
