Cambodia’s Garment Exports Top $2.5 Billion in Q1

PHNOM PENH, April 27, 2026 (KPT) — Cambodia’s garment exports exceeded $2.5 billion in the first quarter of 2026, official data showed Monday, underscoring sustained growth amid a stable investment climate and shifting global supply chains.

The Ministry of Commerce said garment shipments reached $2.57 billion, up 6 percent year‑on‑year. Footwear exports rose to $516 million (+11.82%), while travel goods and bags generated $512 million (+4.25%).

Kaing Monika of the Textile, Apparel, Footwear and Travel Goods Association in Cambodia (TAFTAC) said investor confidence and factory expansion, including new operations launched in 2025, have reinforced sectoral growth.

He added that stronger demand in major markets, diversification away from China, capacity limits in Vietnam and political instability in Myanmar have further boosted Cambodia’s competitiveness.

Commerce Ministry spokesperson Penn Sovicheat noted that the United States remains a key destination, highlighting Cambodia’s ability to maintain major markets and ensure supply chain reliability.

Officials said the continued rise in exports reflects strong buyer confidence and reinforces Cambodia’s role in global value chains. In 2025, garment exports totaled $11.4 billion (+16.5%), footwear $2.09 billion (+24.53%), and travel goods $2.02 billion (+3.87%).
