Commerce Ministry Warns Businesses Against Selling Harmful and Banned Products
PHNOM PENH, May 4, 2026 (KPT) — The Ministry of Commerce has warned businesses against importing, distributing or selling harmful and banned products as authorities intensify efforts to protect consumer health and strengthen market oversight, officials said Monday.
The Consumer Protection Competition and Fraud Repression Directorate General (CCF) under the Ministry of Commerce issued a notice urging traders, importers and distributors to strictly comply with product safety regulations.

Goods containing prohibited chemicals, items of unclear origin or products failing to meet compliance standards must not be imported or sold under any circumstances.
Authorities stressed stricter adherence to safety requirements, particularly for food products, including proper storage, hygiene, packaging and transportation. Retailers and distributors have been instructed to ensure traceability by requesting invoices from suppliers and cooperating with inspections and laboratory testing.
The crackdown follows government directives to curb unsafe goods and reinforce fair competition. Consumers have been urged to remain vigilant and report suspicious items via the ministry’s hotline.
Officials said stronger enforcement and cooperation among stakeholders will be key to safeguarding public health and maintaining trust in Cambodia’s markets.
