PHNOM PENH, May 13, 2026 (KPT) —Association of Banks in Cambodia (ABC) and the Preah Srey Içanavarman Museum of Economy and Money (SOSORO) have renewed their memorandum of understanding to strengthen efforts in promoting economic literacy among the kingdom’s youth, officials said Wednesday.

The signing was witnessed by National Bank of Cambodia Deputy Governor Yim Leat, representing Governor Chea Serey, at the SOSORO Museum.

Building on two years of cooperation, the renewed agreement under the “Banking Sector Program for Economic Literacy” reaffirms the banking sector’s commitment to advancing financial education. The initiative, supported by private banks, funds transportation and visit expenses for public school students to access the museum’s exhibits on Cambodia’s monetary and economic history.

The data showed that more than 15,000 students from Phnom Penh and provinces including Kampong Thom, Ratanakiri, Stung Treng, Kratie and Kampong Cham have already benefited from the program.

ABC Chairman Rath Sophoan said the collaboration aligns with the sector’s sustainable finance principles, providing students with “valuable knowledge and an opportunity to learn our history and the value of money.” SOSORO Co‑Director Blaise Kilian praised the inclusiveness of the program and pledged to extend its reach nationwide.

Leat said the third year of the MoU demonstrates continued commitment to advancing financial inclusion and literacy among Cambodian youth. The agreement will remain in force until May 2027, with the possibility of renewal.
