PHNOM PENH, July 23, 2026 (KPT) – Cambodia has highlighted its investment reforms and growing economic opportunities to a delegation of leading American companies, seeking to build on recent breakthroughs in bilateral economic relations to attract more U.S. investment.

Deputy Prime Minister Sun Chanthol, First Vice Chairman of the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC), met with a U.S.-ASEAN Business Council mission led by President and CEO Ambassador (Ret.) Brian D. McFeeters.

Chanthol outlined the CDC’s role in promoting investment and noted record growth in Qualified Investment Project approvals, attributing momentum to reforms and an improved business climate.

He cited milestones including Cambodia’s Agreement on Reciprocal Trade with the United States, the Open Skies Air Transport Agreement signed in Washington on June 30, and a US$100 million financing package from the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation for Techo International Airport.

Chanthol said the government has strengthened dialogue with investors through forums and initiatives such as “Open Day with DPM,” while internal reforms at the CDC aim to make investment facilitation more efficient and transparent.

McFeeters praised Cambodia’s engagement and described the mission as productive in connecting American firms with public institutions. Delegates expressed confidence in Cambodia’s economic potential, with discussions covering healthcare, manufacturing, energy, finance, digital technology, logistics, tourism and critical minerals.

The U.S. Embassy said the annual mission brought more than a dozen companies to explore opportunities and reaffirmed commitments to expand trade and investment. Cambodia’s exports to the United States reached over US$7 billion in the first half of 2026, up 29.8 percent year‑on‑year, while two‑way trade in 2025 totaled US$13.14 billion, a 29.2 percent increase from 2024.
