Cambodia’s exam pass rate leaps to record 84% after decade of reform
PHNOM PENH, Feb 10, 2026 (KPT) – Cambodia has recorded its highest ever national Upper Secondary (Bac II) examination pass rate, with more than 84 percent of students succeeding in 2025 – a dramatic rise from just 25 percent a decade ago, officials said Tuesday.
Deputy Prime Minister and Education Minister Hang Chuon Naron announced the results at a ceremony in Phnom Penh, hailing the figures as proof of sweeping reforms since 2014 aimed at strengthening curriculum quality, teacher training and exam integrity.

Out of nearly 145,000 candidates who sat last year’s exam, more than 122,000 passed, including 3,003 who achieved Grade A. The science stream produced the vast majority of top scorers, underscoring strong academic performance among science track students.
Officials also reported near perfect results in technical and vocational exams, with a 99.8 percent pass rate, highlighting the growing strength of Cambodia’s skills based education.
Naron said the transformation reflects long term investment in education and marks a turning point for Cambodia’s human capital development.
