PHNOM PENH, Mar. 12, 2026 (KPT) — Cambodia and Singapore have pledged to deepen cooperation across politics, trade and people to people ties during Foreign Minister Prak Sokhonn’s two day official visit to the city state.

Sokhonn met Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, who welcomed the visit as a reflection of close friendship and said it would help strengthen longstanding ties.

Sokhonn also held talks with Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan, with both sides agreeing to expand collaboration in food and energy security, defence, and human resource development.

The ministers reaffirmed the importance of regular high level exchanges, citing recent visits by Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet and Wong as milestones in the partnership.

Sokhonn thanked Singapore for its support in capacity building and care for Cambodian workers, while welcoming Singapore’s inclusion of Cambodia among new source countries for foreign labor.

On security, both sides highlighted cooperation in tackling transnational crime and stressed the need for stronger coordination between law enforcement agencies.

In trade, officials said opportunities exist to leverage complementary strengths, with a memorandum on food security expected soon.

Sokhonn also briefed Balakrishnan on the Cambodia–Thailand border situation and the plight of internally displaced people, underscoring Cambodia’s regional concerns.

Both ministers reiterated their commitment to promoting peace, stability and prosperity in ASEAN. Sokhonn expressed hope of welcoming Balakrishnan to Cambodia in the near future.
