PHNOM PENH, Mar. 10, 2026 (KPT) — Cambodia’s National Assembly President Samdech Khuon Sudary has called for stronger parliamentary cooperation with Hungary and expanded collaboration in trade, tourism, education, technology, and agriculture.

Sudary made the remarks Tuesday while receiving György Such, Secretary General of the Hungarian National Assembly, during an official visit to Phnom Penh.

She said the meeting reflected growing ties between the two legislatures and offered an opportunity to explore new areas of cooperation for mutual benefit.

The visit builds on a memorandum of understanding signed in 2025 and follows Sudary’s trip to Hungary last October, where both sides agreed to expand parliamentary and administrative collaboration.

Sudary described Hungary as a long standing partner based on trust and respect, noting the importance of peace and stability in the current global context.

She thanked Hungary for providing scholarships to Cambodian students since the 1980s, recalling her own studies in journalism there, and urged Budapest to expand scholarship opportunities.

Such praised Cambodia’s recent development and said the visit would help produce practical outcomes, strengthening parliamentary diplomacy and cooperation in multiple sectors.
