PHNOM PENH, May 25, 2026 (KPT) — Acting Head of State Samdech Techo Hun Sen on Monday received Hungary’s outgoing ambassador to Cambodia, Tibor Baloghdi, for a farewell audience marking the completion of his four‑year mission.

Senate spokesperson Chea Thyrith said Hun Sen expressed appreciation for the envoy’s contribution to strengthening bilateral relations.

He noted that despite geographical distance, Cambodia and Hungary have maintained close ties for 70 years, underscored by growing exchanges between executive and legislative institutions and expanding economic cooperation.

Ambassador Baloghdi thanked Samdech Techo Hun Sen for the audience, describing his posting as an honour.

He said he had witnessed visible improvements in Cambodia’s development and living standards, and pointed to rising trade flows, particularly Cambodian exports.

He recalled that both countries jointly marked the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations this year.

Samdech Techo praised Hungary’s role in supporting Cambodia’s human resource development, noting that several Cambodian leaders had studied in Hungary and now serve in government positions.

He also recalled frequent exchanges between leaders, including his official visit to Hungary in 2019 and subsequent high‑level visits, describing them as evidence of strong bilateral ties.
