Cambodia, U.S. Deepen Trade and Security Ties with Focus on Investment and Anti-Scam Cooperation
PHNOM PENH, Mar 4, 2026 (KPT) – Cambodia and the United States have reaffirmed their commitment to expanding cooperation in trade, investment and security, with particular emphasis on attracting high-quality U.S. investment and tackling online scams, officials said Tuesday.
Deputy Prime Minister Vongsey Vissoth met Bridgette Walker, Chargé d’Affaires ad interim of the U.S. Embassy, to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral ties. Both sides noted the positive trajectory of Cambodia–U.S. relations and pledged deeper engagement in commerce, diplomacy and security.

Vissoth said Cambodia seeks diversified U.S. investment to reinforce its industrial base and integrate more deeply into regional supply chains. He also highlighted the government’s priority to combat online scams, describing them as a transnational crime requiring coordinated global action. Cambodia’s four-pronged approach focuses on prevention, enforcement, education and international partnership.
Walker welcomed Cambodia’s efforts and reaffirmed Washington’s support, noting that the upcoming fourth Cambodia–U.S. Public-Private Sector Dialogue would further boost trade and investment cooperation.
Both sides concluded by pledging to advance relations based on mutual respect, sovereignty and shared interests.
