PHNOM PENH, Feb 12, 2026 (KPT) – Cambodia has reaffirmed its commitment to peacefully resolving border disputes with Thailand, stressing that international boundaries must not be altered by force.

Government spokesman Pen Bona told reporters at a daily press briefing that Cambodia remains firm in safeguarding its frontier with Thailand as defined by historical agreements, including the Franco-Siamese treaties and the Commission of Delimitation of the Boundary between Indo-China and Siam.

“The Royal Government of Cambodia reaffirms its consistent and unwavering commitment to the peaceful and amicable settlement of all boundary disputes with Thailand, in accordance with international law,” Bona said. “Borders must not be changed by force.”

He added that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has lodged a formal protest against what it described as “unlawful activities” by Thai armed forces in Banteay Meanchey province.

Local authorities reported that civilian infrastructure and administrative buildings were demolished in the Boeung Trakoun area, between Boundary Pillars 33 and 36 in Thmar Puok district.

In Chouk Chey village, O Bei Chorn commune, O Chrov district, between Boundary Pillars 46 and 47, a ditch and road were constructed and a pond filled in.

“These actions, which have altered the geographical terrain, constitute a clear attempt to legitimise the unlawful occupation of Cambodian territory,” Bona said.

“They contravene the United Nations Charter, the ASEAN Charter, and agreed measures from recent Cambodia-Thailand border meetings.”
