PHNOM PENH, Feb 4, 2026 (KPT) — Cambodia and Pakistan pledged to strengthen and expand ties during high-level talks in Phnom Penh, officials said Tuesday.

Prime Minister Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet met Pakistan’s Senate Chairman Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani at the Peace Palace on Tuesday, as part of an official visit by a Pakistani delegation from February 2 to 5.

Gilani thanked Cambodia for its warm reception and noted the two countries are marking 74 years of diplomatic relations.

He recalled Pakistan was among the first nations to recognise Cambodia’s independence and pointed to shared strengths, including agriculture and youthful populations.

He said he hoped the visit would reinvigorate ties, particularly cooperation between the legislative bodies of both nations.

Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet welcomed the delegation, saying the visit reflected growing relations between the two senates.

He expressed confidence that the talks would open new areas of cooperation and reaffirmed Cambodia’s readiness to support closer institutional engagement.

The two sides discussed expanding cooperation across diplomacy, security, trade and investment, agriculture, technology, education, tourism, health and people-to-people exchanges.

They also encouraged government agencies and private sector representatives to explore new opportunities for collaboration. Both leaders agreed to continue working closely in regional and international forums.
