Cambodia and Brazil Reaffirm Commitment to Closer Cooperation

PHNOM PENH, Feb 3, 2026 (KPT) – Cambodia and Brazil have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral ties, highlighting progress in trade, tourism and diplomacy, officials said Monday.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Prak Sokhonn met Brazil’s Ambassador Vivian Loss Sanmartin at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Phnom Penh on Sunday.
Sokhonn congratulated Sanmartin on her appointment as Brazil’s first resident ambassador to Cambodia, noting that relations were advancing with embassies now open in both capitals, rising two-way trade and growing tourism cooperation.
He said he looked forward to the second round of bilateral consultations, scheduled for March in Phnom Penh, to explore further areas of collaboration.
Sanmartin welcomed the momentum in ties and reaffirmed Brazil’s commitment to expanding cooperation in trade, investment, education, tourism, the environment and agriculture.
Both sides also pledged to deepen cooperation at bilateral and multilateral levels to promote prosperity and development.
Sokhonn briefed the ambassador on recent developments regarding the Cambodia–Thailand border issue and thanked Brazil for supporting the ceasefire and peace process.
